ABBEVILLE, LA — Ecoserv, a Louisiana-based company offering upstream specialized cleaning and waste disposal services primarily for the oil and gas industry, announced that the Pit Viper System is approaching its first anniversary of operation throughout the Gulf of Mexico.
Introduced in Q4 2019, the Pit Viper is the industry’s first specialized remotely operated technology for mud pit cleaning on offshore drilling assets and frac tank cleaning onshore. The system replaces confined space entry required during high-risk mud removal activities and significantly decreases the human risk associated with the process.
“Our employees and stakeholders are very pleased with the speed at which this technology has advanced,” said Michael W. Breaux, Vice President at Ecoserv. “In addition, this approaching milestone has definitely set us apart from industry competition and has shown proven staying power with our customers. Today, the Pit Viper is reducing high-risk operations by 80% and Ecoserv is thrilled to be on the forefront of moving our industry in a safer direction.”
Ecoserv has long had the mission of eliminating workers from confined spaces whenever possible, and has accomplished this through developing technology which focuses on safety, improvements on conventional methods and cost effective benefits that Gulf of Mexico Operators consider valuable.
“We are looking forward to continuing to develop this application and creating safer work practices for all of our partners,” said Breaux.
